The technician will perform routine maintenance, calibration and repairs on a wide range of optical microscopes and imaging equipment. Day to day tasks include troubleshooting technical issues, conducting field service visits to customer sites, documenting work performed, and ensuring equipment meets performance and safety standards. The role involves communicating with customers to assess issues, provide status updates, and offer basic user guidance on care and operation of microscopes. The technician will collaborate with the service team to prioritize requests, manage parts and tools, and support continuous improvement of service processes.

Qualifications:

- Strong maintenance and repair skills for optical microscopes and related imaging equipment is desired. Equipment servicing will also be considered.

- Proficient troubleshooting abilities to diagnose mechanical, optical and electronic faults.

- Field service experience, including on-site visits, scheduling and clear service documentation.

- Strong customer service skills, to communicate effectively, manage expectations, and provide user support.

- General maintenance capabilities to perform inspections, cleaning, calibration and preventive work. 

- Experience with optical systems, electronics, or precision instruments is preferred.  A background in microscopy is advantageous.  

- The ability to work in a remote setting, manage time efficiently, and travel to customer locations and required. 

- Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in engineering, electronics or a related discipline. 

- Valid drivers licence and willingness to travel within the UK.
