Microscope Cameras

There are three main types of microscope cameras- c-mount cameras for connecting to microscope’s photoport, eyepiece cameras that fit into the eyepiece tube of a microscope and embedded cameras that fit between the head and body of a microscope.

If your microscope has a trinocular head, then a c-mount camera would be best. You would need some sort of camera adapter to attach the camera to the microscope.

With binocular microscopes then an eyepiece or embedded camera would be required.

C-Mount Cameras
	USB Cameras. These are the standard type of microscope camera. They connect to a PC or Mac via USB. The PC/ Mac runs the camera operating software and images are stored onto this	Display cameras. These connect to an display by HDMI. These cameras are ideal for education and presentations, as a number of people can see the image at the same time. Images can be stored onto an SD card in the camera		USB and display cameras. These have the best of both USB and HDMI connectivity. They connect to both a PC and/ or an HDMI display screen
	WiFi Cameras. These connect to a smartphone/ tablet. An app can be downloaded from the app store to view and save the image	Autofocus cameras.		Fluorescence cameras. Fluorescence samples generally have low light output, so need a highly sensitive camera to detect them
	Image analysis. These cameras have built in software to provide a range of image analysis tools
Eyepiece Cameras		Embedded Cameras
	Eyepiece Cameras. These cameras fit into the eyepiece tube of a microscope. They connect to a PC via USB.		Embedded Cameras. These fit between the head and body of the microscope. Models are available for Leica, Olympus, Nikon and Zeiss microscopes
